Have you been thumped lately?

I love browsing the internet to read and read and read. Then i came across this inspirational thought which  was really worth reading and meditating. I also wanted to disclose that i love reading and reposting ideas from my very favorite Ken Sapp of  creativeyouthideasdotcom. You can be a part of his community if you like by just subscribing to him. It's that easy. You have nothing to lose. It's free :-) and what's more you will love his superb articles and creative writings.

So back to this inspirational thought I wanted to share.

When a potter bakes a pot, he checks its solidity by putting it out of the oven and THUMPING it. If it SINGS, it's ready. If it THUDS, it's placed back in the oven. The character of a person is also checked by thumping.

Been thumped lately?

Late night phone calls. Grouchy teacher. Grumpy moms.Burnt meals. Flat tires. You've got to be kidding deadlines. Those are thumps. Thumps are those irritating inconveniences that trigger the worst in us. They catch us off guard. Flat footed. They aren't big enough to be crises, but if you get enough of them, watch out! Traffic jams. Long lines. Empty mailboxes. Dirty clothes on the floor...Thump. Thump. Thump.

How do I respond? Do I sing or do I thud?
Jesus said that out of the nature of the heart a man speaks. (Luke 6:56). There's nothing like a good thump to reveal the nature of a heart. The true character of a person is seen not in momentary heroics, but in the thump packed humdrum of a day-to-day living.

Well, experience has taught me that I can actually control my character and moods. If I chose to get angry then i would really burst out in anger. If I chose to be cool, then its very likely possible. You may not agree with me- okay that's just fine. I don't insist this is true for everyone. I just say what I think for me is true.  And what's more what good can bring me to choose the negative side? Who else are in control of our emotions but us?

We always experience thumps, we can't avoid them. They can be very irritating, annoying and depressing. Some people has very little patience, some are easily hot-tempered, some easily withdraw and sometimes if they couldn't handle the problem they get really depressed. There are even those who have ended their lives just to find escape. It is very sad. I know it takes a lot of positive thoughts to overcome such trials in our day-to-day living. It takes a very big heart to be patient, be enduring, be forgiving.

I encourage we become a fighter. Let us overcome these thumps. They are there to trigger the worst in us but they are also there to make us stronger. Through them we become more careful, we become wiser, we LEARN. Let's not give up and if these thumps are really too much to handle, turn to prayers. Let us pray to our God. Keep our faith. Even a non-believer believes in something. Let us believe that God won't give us anything more than we can handle. When i was younger I have always liked the old saying, there's always a rainbow after the rain. Cheer up, buddies!  Life is beautiful. :-)

P.S. The icon above who has some kind of problematic face is my little one. :) No, no, no! please don't get me wrong. She's not typically like that. She's a happy baby :))) I just happen to get a photo of her posing like that. She's a baby who loves to emote, ya know! :-) Just like her mommy :-D
